Training and workshops

Florida Water StarSM offers training to educate building professionals about water-efficient appliances, irrigation systems and landscaping. While many of the Florida Water StarSM workshops have focused on residential construction, programs are being expanded to include information specific to commercial and community-level projects.

Local government presentations are available upon request. Please contact Florida Water StarSM staff for more information.

Workshops on designing, building and certifying Florida Water StarSM projects are offered throughout participating areas. Other relevant training by public and private organizations is listed on this calendar.

Florida Water Star Inspector Training

Course Description:
Florida Water Star is a water conservation certification program for homes, commercial buildings, and community developments. Florida Water Star has standards and guidelines for water efficiency that cover indoor fixtures, appliances, landscape design, and irrigation systems. For a building or community to become Florida Water Star certified, an approved Florida Water Star Inspector shall first verify each project conforms to Florida Water Star requirements. This course and the subsequent Inspector Exam are how inspectors become approved to verify buildings and community’s conformance to Florida Water Star requirements.

Course Description:
Water and Energy Inspectors, On-Site Inspection Agencies, Builders, Enforcement Officials, Trades, and Private Providers, can use the principles, guidance, templates, and worksheets in this boot camp to establish and improve a Quality Control System while executing Florida Water Star, ordinance and energy code requirements, and establish and support interoperability for Building Code Effectiveness Grading Schedule applications.
